Answers to your questions

What do you specialise in?

Brand identity and motion. I design logos and the brand systems around them, then make them move: logo animation, motion identities and brand films. I also design and build websites for the brands I work on.

Who have you worked with?

I’m a Senior Brand Designer at Matter Of Form, and before that I worked at Navigator International, Bulletproof, Lewis Moberly, Sunhouse Creative and Big Yellow. Brands I’ve worked on include AmaWaterways, Ben Bridge, Leger Holidays, Moods, MZSkin, Wow Media, Geographic, Amrit Health and Crans-Étoile.

Where are you based?

London, UK. I work with clients wherever they are.

Do you take on freelance projects?

Yes, for clients who come to me directly. I work as a sole operator, in the evenings and at weekends, so you deal with me from the first conversation to the final files.

How does a project usually run?

It starts with the strategy, usually shaped with a strategist or your own team: who it’s for and what it needs to say. From there it moves through a few creative routes, then one direction developed properly across every touchpoint, so there are few surprises and fewer revisions.

How long does a project take?

I like to sit on a problem before I start. Sometimes that means weeks of thinking before I even open my laptop, following every trail of thought until the idea is clear. In a world that rushes to make things as fast as possible, the brands that slow down and consider their process are the ones that stand out.

That said, if a project has a tighter deadline, we can talk about how to make it work. Either way, you’ll get a clear timeline before anything starts.

Can you build the website as well?

Yes, in my own way. I’m not the world’s best coder, but now that we can work straight onto the canvas, I’m finding myself building more and more websites. It’s something I’m keen to keep experimenting with, so I’m sure we can work something out.

For bigger or more technical builds, I also have development partners I can bring in.

Do you work with agencies as well as brands?

Not at the moment. I work as a sole operator, directly with the clients who come to me, so you deal with me from start to finish.

As I work at an agency during the day, working with other agencies is out of the question. My freelance projects are completed exclusively in the evenings and at weekends.

What do I get at the end of a brand project?

A complete identity and the guidelines to use it: logo, typography, colour, imagery direction and the key touchpoints designed, ready for your team or partners to run with.
